As someone who is an avid reader and one who frequents bookshops, I would like commend Andrew's Bookshop - especially the Lygon St Store (situated in the Nova complex).
I say that on 5 points:
- Of all the discount/remainder stores I've been to, Andrew's (Lygon St) is far and away the best on prices. They are definitely fair and affordable for anyone's budget - I can only assume they work to a smaller margin, which increases turnover - a plus for the reader.
- With acceleration of turnover, you find the stock up to date and topical . No going through the same stock week after week.
- The range of books cater to every taste - fiction, history, sociology, science, politics, classics (I could go on but you get the picture).
- The Lygon Street staff are very friendly and helpful: John, Stephen and Leny are only too happy to find the books you like - They're the best.
- For the non-reader, Andrew's have a range of gifts and greeting cards to suit every occasion at prices that would suit any pocket.
- (Bonus extra) To top it off you can have a durable recyclable bag to carry your purchases home in.

I enjoy shopping at Andrew's Books because of the vast diversity, variety of books, friendly staff and easy atmosphere. It is book shopping as it should be without the flash, hype and over advertising.

The great thing about Andrew's is that its staff are real book people. They don't just sell books, they know books - what's deep, what's racy, what's fun, what will suit me, my kids, my friends or that pernickety relative that's hard to please. It's great to be able to "talk books" with people who share your passion for reading.
